Schaeffer was born in January of 1981, in Baltimore, Maryland. She was born premature and addicted to narcotics. Her mother and father were too young and not in any position to take care of her. She later was taken into custody of the state. She was placed in a foster home, moved to another, and finally was adopted by her second foster parents. She grew up with foster brothers and sisters, dealing with mental, emotional, and physical abuse from some of the children.

Every day was a struggle, dealing with feelings of abandonment, rejection, and the deep pain that consumed her entire being. Many times throughout her childhood she felt utterly alone and lost. T.J. began writing at a very young age. It was her escape from reality, her imagination taking her to faraway places, allowing her to be whatever she wanted to be at that time. Through poetry she was able to speak to her inner self, helping her get through each passing day. Today poetry and writing play a major part in her life. This is a small collection of her poetry, written throughout the years that she would like to share.

Her hope is to maybe reach someone, even if in a small way.
